Parent and Tot Waterbabies Swimming ClassAll lessons are 30 minutes

FAMILY TOT: 6 months – under 3 years

Emphasis in these classes is placed on learning through fun. By using songs, games, and colourful equipment, we introduce:

• basic water orientation and floating skills

• breath control and gentle underwater submersion

• survival skills including back floats, grasping floatable objects and introducing personal flotation devices.

Underwater Preschool Swimming ClassAll lessons are 30 minutes

PRESCHOOL: 3 – 5 years

STARFISH: Introductory program to develop confidence, breath control, and proper body position. Graduates will be able to do a front “pencil” glide with kicks for 1.8m (6ft), a front “pencil” float for 3-5 seconds, and jump forward from the pool edge to the teacher.

TURTLE: Graduates will be able to do a front “i” glide with kicks for 4.5m (15ft), a back “i” glide with kicks for 4.5m (15ft), and a ball float for 5 seconds.

SEAL: Graduates will be able to do a continuous rollover “i” swim for 10.6m (35ft). Bridge float with repetitive and relaxed breathing and combination floats are introduced. Treading water and back floats are introduced for surface survival.

OTTER: Graduates will be able to swim front crawl with a 1-2-3 bilateral breathing pattern and above-water arm recovery for 15m (50ft). They will also be able to perform a bridge float with breathing for 2 minutes and combination floats with breathing for 1 minute.

School Age Swimming Class with DolphinsAll lessons are 30 minutes

SCHOOL AGE: 6 – 12 years

YELLOW: Introductory program to develop confidence, breath control, and proper body position. Graduates will be able to do a front “pencil” glide with kicks for 6m (20ft), a back “i” glide with kicks for 6m (20ft), and jump forward from the pool edge to the teacher.

ORANGE: Graduates will be able to do a continuous rollover “i” swim for 10.6m (35ft) and a ball float for 5 seconds. Bridge float with repetitive and relaxed breathing and combination floats are introduced. Treading water and back floats are introduced for surface survival.

RED: Graduates will be able to swim front crawl with a 1-2-3 bilateral breathing pattern and above-water arm recovery for 15m (50ft). They will also be able to perform a bridge float with breathing for 2 minutes and combination floats with breathing for 1 minute.

MAROON: Graduates will be able to swim front crawl with a 1-2-3 bilateral breathing pattern for 30m (100ft) and back “i” swim with propulsive kicks for 30m (100ft). They will also be able to perform a bridge float with breathing for 3 minutes.

BLUE: Graduates will be able to swim front crawl and back crawl for a distance of 45m (150ft). They will also be able to perform a bridge float with breathing for 4 minutes.

BRONZE: Graduates will be able to swim front crawl and back crawl for 90m (300ft), elementary backstroke for 30m (100ft), and whip kick on their front with an aid for 30m (100ft). They will also be able to perform a bridge float with breathing for 5 minutes.

SILVER: Graduates will be able to swim front and back crawl for 150m (500ft), elementary backstroke and breaststroke for 60m (200ft). They will also be able to perform a combination of Swimplicity skills for 5 minutes.

GOLD: The four core strokes – front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke and breaststroke are all developed to a high level of proficiency and efficiency. Graduates are able to perform sidestroke for 60m (200ft) and butterfly is introduced. Recipients of the Gold Level Medal have strong deep water survival skills and are able to perform an endurance swim for 480m (1600ft).
